Turn any decimal into a fraction in simplest form (repeating decimals too), turn a fraction back into a decimal, or simplify a fraction.
How to turn a decimal into a fraction
- Count the digits after the decimal point. 0.375 has three.
- Write the digits over 1 followed by that many zeros: 375/1000.
- Simplify by dividing the top and bottom by their greatest common factor (125): 375/1000 = 3/8.
Repeating decimals
A decimal that repeats forever is still a fraction. For one repeating digit, put it over 9: 0.333… = 3/9 = 1/3. For two repeating digits, use 99: 0.272727… = 27/99 = 3/11. Type them here with brackets around the repeating part, like 0.(27).
