How Math Minute works
A math minute (sometimes called a mad minute) is a quick, timed round of math facts. Speed comes from knowing facts by heart, so short daily rounds work better than one long session. Type the answer and press Enter; the next problem appears straight away.
- Pick your facts. Choose times tables (tick just the ones you're learning), adding, taking away, dividing, or a mix.
- Pick the level. Easy keeps numbers to 10, medium to 20, and hard uses two-digit numbers.
- See how. At the end, every miss comes with a way to think about it, like "8 × 9 = 8 × 10 − 8".
- Practice your misses. One tap runs a round of just the facts you got wrong.
Your best score for each setting is kept on this device only. Nothing is sent anywhere, and there's no account.
Tips for learning times tables
- Learn the easy ones first: 1, 2, 5 and 10. Then 3, 4 and 9, then 6, 7 and 8.
- Every fact works both ways: if you know 3 × 8 = 24, you know 8 × 3 = 24 and 24 ÷ 8 = 3.
- Nines: 9 × 7 is 10 × 7 minus 7, so 70 − 7 = 63.
- Doubles: 4 × 7 is double 2 × 7, so double 14 = 28. 8 × 7 is double that again: 56.
