Is Calcist free?
Yes. Every calculator is free, with no sign-up and no pop-ups.
Can I type questions instead of sums?
Yes. Try “18% of 245”, “15 is what percent of 60”, “25% off $80”, “$24 an hour, 37.5 hours a week”, “can I afford $1,400 rent on $22 an hour”, “3 cups to ml” or “days until Christmas”.
How accurate are the answers?
Fractions stay exact, so 2/3 + 1/4 is 11/12, not a rounded decimal. Every calculator is tested against worked examples with known answers before it's published.
Is anything I type sent to a server?
No. Every calculation happens in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us or anyone else.
Can I talk to it?
Yes. Tap the microphone and ask, like “what's fifteen percent of two hundred eighty?”, and tap the speaker to hear answers read out loud. Answers are spoken by your own device. To hear you, your browser uses its own speech service (in Chrome, Edge and Safari that's usually online), and Calcist asks before using the microphone the first time.
