How to use the graphing calculator
- Type a function of x in y₁, y₂ or y₃. Write powers with ^ (x^2), roots as sqrt(x), and you can leave out × between a number and x: 2x + 1 works.
- Move and zoom: drag the graph to move around, scroll (or pinch on a phone) to zoom, or use the + and − buttons. Reset goes back to −10 to 10.
- Trace: move your pointer or finger across the graph to read the y value of every function at that x.
- Key points: below the graph, Calcist lists where each curve crosses the y-axis and the x-axis (its zeros) within the view.
What you can graph
Lines (2x + 1), parabolas (x^2 − 4), cubics (x^3 − 3x), trig (sin(x), cos(2x)), exponentials (2^x, e^x), logarithms (ln(x)), roots (sqrt(x)), absolute value (abs(x)) and fractions like 1/x. Gaps in a graph, like 1/x at x = 0, are left open rather than joined.
Where two graphs cross
Graph both sides of an equation as y₁ and y₂: they meet where the equation is true. For an exact answer with steps, use the equation solver.
