The rate starts at 0%. Buying in a neighboring state, or ordering from a seller that charges another state's tax? Type that rate in. For example, at 6% a $100 purchase costs $106.00. You can also take tax out of a total, or work out the rate from a receipt.
Limitations
- No sales tax doesn't mean no tax on purchases: lodging, meals, fuel and similar items can have their own taxes.
- Rates change. Check the Montana revenue department for anything specific.
